Women's Grand Tours

The Giro d'Italia Women: a last-day turnaround in 2026, and the winners since 2022.

The Giro d'Italia Women, called the Giro Donne until 2023, ran from 30 May to 7 June 2026 and is finished. Demi Vollering won it by taking the lead on the final day, and the organiser says the win gave her all three women's Grand Tours. Sources differ on some of the gaps, so we give each version.

This page leans on the organiser where it could be read. The winner and the top three come from the organiser's own report; the jerseys and the places below third come from news reports; the race's history and every result before 2026 come from Wikipedia, a secondary source we name each time.

Name and organiser

Wikipedia (secondary) records that the race was known as the Giro Donne until 2023 and was renamed the Giro d'Italia Women from 2024, when RCS Sport, which organises the men's Giro, took it over on a four-year contract. The 2024 edition was the 35th and was part of that year's UCI Women's WorldTour. The record for most wins, per Wikipedia, is five, held by Fabiana Luperini of Italy (1995, 1996, 1997, 1998 and 2008).

Status on 22 October 2026

The 2026 race is finished. It ran from 30 May to 7 June 2026 over nine stages, from Cesenatico to a final stage that started and finished in Saluzzo, and its first two days overlapped the end of the men's Giro on 31 May (cyclingstage.com).

2026: Vollering on the final day

Anna van der Breggen won the stage 4 time trial to Nevegal and led for most of the race, going into the final day 49 seconds ahead. Demi Vollering won stages 5 and 8 and overturned the lead on the last stage at Saluzzo, which Elisa Longo Borghini won (cyclingstage.com; the organiser). Vollering (Netherlands, FDJ United-Suez) took the maglia rosa, and the organiser says the win completed her "Triple Crown": victories in all three women's Grand Tours (organiser; Bicycling Australia).

The gaps differ by source. The organiser and ProCyclingUK put Niedermaier 30 seconds behind; cyclingstage.com says 34 seconds, and also gives larger gaps for fourth and fifth than ProCyclingUK does. We prefer the organiser's figure for second place because it is the organiser's own result. The organiser's report does not give fourth and fifth, so for those we cannot say which version is right.

Vollering's three Grand Tours

Putting this site's results together, Vollering has won the Tour de France Femmes (2023 and 2026), La Vuelta Femenina (2024 and 2025) and now the Giro d'Italia Women (2026). The Tour and Vuelta results rest partly on Wikipedia, as those pages say. See Tour de France Femmes and La Vuelta Femenina.

Where to watch

The organiser published a list of official broadcasters for 2026, which is on watching cycling.
